His Promises Remain True.

New Heart | New Spirit 2020

The words God grave you didn’t become void because of the virus. Breakthrough comes through challenges. As I’m reflecting on the words God gave me personally and for each of you I see the work he is about. New heart, new spirit is at work more than ever. We may not like what is being exposed in ourselves, in our loved ones, friends or community but through exposure we have the opportunity to love deeper, clearer, and more honestly. God is still faithful to the work he has planned for you and is not derailed or too busy or distracted to abandon his cause. That flourishing new garden is still at work in your heart. Work with him. Build with him. When I cry out to God, why, I am reassured by the verses in Song of Solomon.

“The season has changed, the bondage of your barren winter has ended, and the season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season for singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide you forth. Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, “There is change in the air.” Arise, my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place. For now is the time to arise and come away with me. For you are my dove, hidden in the split-open rock. It was I who took you and hid you up high in the secret stairway of the sky. Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice. How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer. You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.”

Song of Songs‬ ‭2:11-15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

It is an act of mercy and intimacy that HE has put to in this split-open rock. It is he who has you tucked away, because he wants to cup your face into his hands and look deeply into your eyes and to hear your worship and voice in prayer. If we can grasp the magnitude and preciousness of this time we could see the loveliness of his grace and desire for us. But we all have troubling foxes, things that keep us from this intimate time. Distractions, disbelief, busyness, anger, fear, hurts, lies we tell ourselves. Catch them and bring them to him in prayer, chase them away with scripture and prayer. Don’t let them hinder and damage your little new garden.
